About Songs
Compilation Vol. 1 - CD 16 Songs

"About Songs" is a club in Hamburg, which takes place ones a month at "Grüner Jäger" and this is the first compilation being released with the same name. From now on the "About Songs" compilation will be released twice a year. It is not about dance music, it is about sometimes melancholic songs you have to listen to and also from some unknown bands you hopefully would love to discover. The concept also includes that a musician, actor or author is writing some words about his love to music down, which you can find in the booklet. The first is the German singer/songwriter Olli Schulz. Also the packaging is really high class (digi pack, spezial paper) and should reflect the quality of the music.

It contains more rock but has still a lot of great atmoshere: EMMERHOFF & THE MELANCHOLY BABIES proof us again that they are fantastic in playing dark, 70ies influenced country rock. A big suprise might be the cover version of Portishead's "Cowboys" - a great interpretation of a classic in the very specific sound of the band from Norway.

"Mouthfeel" - 11 Songs + 4 Bonus Tracks

The quartett from Atlanta/Georgia presents "Mouthfeel", their first album since the independent classic "Rubbing Doesn't Help" which was released in 1996. We are happy about what we call a comeback from a band who got their first demos produced by some guy called Michael Stipe - and noone else than Bob Mould produced their album "Hot Boxing" in 1994. MAGNAPOP are still doing happy and easygoing rock, showing that there is no need in losing the fun of it when having grown a little older. So "Mouthfeel" is exactly what we know and love about this band: Fluffy songs, great harmonies and a sassy attitude. And of course the lyrics still contain some black humor. "Mouthfeel" satisfies with fantastic pop songs like 'Satellite' or 'California' which may sound like from a long ago age - but they don't associate any bad impressions about that fact. By the way: Added to the new studio tracks the European version also contains 4 live songs as bonus tracks. There is the cover version of 'Game Of Pricks' from the band Guided By Voices and 'I Don't Care', 'Lay It Down' sowie 'Open The Door'.

“Misty Trails” – 13 Song CD

Always somewhat outsiders of Bergen, Norway's thriving music scene (just think of Turbonegro or Motorpsycho!), Emmerhoff and the Melancholy Babies have since the late Nineties been carving out their own niche, far removed from “quiet is the new loud” ramblings and electronic pop favoured by some of their fellow Bergen dwellers. The guitar, unplugged or electrified, has and will always be EMMERHOFF's weapon of choice. In October 2004 the album “MISTY TRAILS” will be released. It will contain the most beautiful and exciting songs of their career and will sound like a journey through the history of a band that packs the moods of their homeland in a mixture of country, rock and independent sounds like no other band.

“Boy in A Band T-Shirt” – 7 Song Vinyl EP

Plain-talking we, Cosmic Casino, tried to make a record without thinking of the freshly filled purse of Ozzy Osbourne and other heroes or those who used to be ones. Of course, “Boy In A Band T-Shirt” sounds a little bit like this at one point and a little bit like that at another. We think that's alright, because as far as the title of the record is concerned we are thinking of ourselves: Guys wearing Band-T-Shirts although beyond the age of 25. “I thought I'd overcome this at 25 / at 29 it became my life”. No, being a fan of music doesn't have to be a disease and you are still allowed to be one when others are already spending their day at the golf course. So listen to the EP! Songs like “I Have No Friends” or “Kings & Queens” we think are pop music, Songs like “Microsoft” or “Bad Mic” are rock. And “Ms. Hollywood” is definitely a kind of gloomy. Well, what now? Do you really think we are trying to argue like “our music can not be categorized” or something? Rubbish, we don't need to do that. Who cares if it's called Minority Rock or Emo-something or whatever. We are sampling ourselves on six strings if necessary and hope that it's fun listening while the music is weaseling into your ear, or maybe even into someone's heart. The seven songs have been recorded in the Bavarian outskirts, we believe there is a lot of passion and creative power out there. Jörg Weber produced them. We only did very few overdubs where absolutely necessary. Something like a Rhodes, Wurlitzer or a Flügelhorn here and there.
